Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan said in a post on social media platform X tonight that Rajunee's responsibilities have been temporarily handed over to another officer.
Shifan said that this measure was taken to ensure the credibility of the investigation ongoing by the Economic Crime Department into the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes, and to avoid any wrongful impacts on this investigation.
He asserted that the step is not being taken due to finding any wrongdoing on Rajunee's part in their ongoing probe into how he came about owning the Vinares flat.
