Maldives' government is working towards establishing a digital economy in the country.
Establishing a digital economy is the most important task of this government and important measures are being taken to achieve that, said Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed today.
Speaking at there agreement signing ceremony with MIB to install ATMs in 19 islands of the country, Minister Saeed said that establishing a digital economy is one of the government's three pillars.
"Our encouragement to establish a digital economy is renewed by the efforts of [Maldives] Islamic Bank," Saeed said, speaking at the event held at the President's Office.
He also said that it is encouraging to know that MIB will continue to work towards that goal next year as well.
Even at the ceremony announcing BML's plans to install ATMs in all islands of Maldives, the Minister also highlighted the efforts being made by the government to introduce the latest financial services in Maldives.
He said that in this era of financial inclusiveness, people need not necessarily have to physically go to seek services. As such, the government is working with various agencies provide ease of payments for the public, he said.
