Malé City Council and HPA are looking for those responsible for dumping oil and other discards into a public junction.
Malé City Council is searching for the individual responsible for creating a system that disposes of oil and other waste into a junction on Roashanee Magu.
The council said that they have received complaints of the issue from Henveiru residents, which is where the area is located in.
In a post on social media yesterday, Malé City Council detailed that dumping oil discard and other waste into the junction has caused it to clog and smell bad.
As such, they are working with the Health Protection Agency (HPA), to find the individual responsible for this, the council said.
The council's media official Aminath Shathufa confirmed, however, that they have not yet identified who it is.
The council urged people not to engage in such "irresponsible and uncivilized acts" and said everyone's cooperation is needed to keep Malé a clean and comfortable place.
Photos released by the council show the junction is located in front of a street with houses.
Roshanee Magu was commissioned by the Road Development Corporation (RDC) on January 26, 2020 and rebuilt on December. The whole project cost MVR 462 million.
