Shaheem said that the criteria for awarding these honors will be discussed during the conference which began today.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said today that special awards will be introduced for Hajj and Umrah service providers.
During the launch of the "Hajj Umrah Conference" at the Islamic Ministry, the minister stated that awards would be given to the top five companies providing Hajj and Umrah services, based on a set of guidelines.
These awards will begin next year and continue annually thereafter.
Shaheem said that the criteria for awarding these honors will be discussed during the conference which began today.
"This award will give a huge boost to the organization's marketing. Hence, work should begin from now to win the award," the minister said.
The awards will be presented at the annual Hajj Umrah Conference next year, where the ministry aims to promote Hajj and Umrah service groups in Maldives.
During the opening ceremony of the conference, awards were also given to three individuals for their longstanding contributions to facilitating Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages:
1. Late Abdul Latheef Hussain Manik (Athama Abdul Latheef)
2. Late Dhidhoo Ibrahim Kaleyfaan
3. Mohamed Yoosuf Moosa
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Lateef presented the awards.
