An individual has been arrested for the theft of mobile phones and other goods from Xeon Mobiles last night.
Police said that they had arrested a 47 year old Maldivian man in relation the case. It is so far unclear whether the stolen goods have been retrieved.
Police said that officers are still working at the scene.
CCTV footage shows a man in a striped t-shirt, wearing a cap, hit the glass door of the shoo with an object in his hand. After breaking the glass, the man leaves without entering the shop.
Later, with the timestamp on the footage showing 05:40 hrs, a man returns to the shop, leaving with about six bags worth of mobile phones and other goods.
While the man who broke the glass is seen in a striped t-shirt, the man later robbing the shop wears a black t-shirt. Although clarity of the footage is low, the shorts and flipflops worn by the man indicate that it is the same man on both instances.
Once in the shop, he breaks open the drawer in the shop counter. It appears that he did not find cash in the drawer, so instead he takes some bags out of it, and then proceeds to place in a bag the phones on the display racks.
Vehicles and pedestrians are seen in the footage as the robbery was ongoing. Although no one physically intervened in the robbery, they had notified Police of the theft.
