A man who was engaged in grouper fishing in a vessel in Haa Alif Atoll has sustained serious injuries to his arm during a shark attack.
The injured is a 28 year old Maldivian man.
After initially receiving medical attention at Haa Alif atoll Hoarafushi Health Center, he was transferred to the Regional Hospital located in Haa Dhaalu Atoll Kulhudhuhfushi for further treatment.
Even after noon yesterday, the hospital revealed that they were still trying even then to stop bleeding from his wounds. They confirmed that he had deep lacerations in his right arm as a result of shark bites.
The boat he was on, for grouper fishing activities, is from the island of Feeali in Faafu Atoll.
