Thalassemia patients and their families have gathered near Maldives Blood Services (MBS) in protest, demanding the resignation of the Thalassemia Center’s management.
The protest began following a meeting held at 10:00 pm to discuss ongoing issues regarding blood transfusions and filter problems that have remained unresolved for three months.
A protester told Mihaaru News that despite repeated complaints, no solutions have been implemented.
Among the major concerns raised were faulty filters that result in wasted blood, as some packets get damaged during transfusions.
Protesters said that securing blood donations is already difficult, especially during Ramadan, and it is deeply upsetting to see blood being discarded due negligence by the center’s management.
