Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu, has said today that the new school under construction in Hulhumale' Phase 2 by Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) is on schedule to be completed this year.
With a capacity to accommodate 1,400 students, the school will address the growing demand for educational facilities in the area. Minister Shafeeu said that the school is expected to open in January 2026.
Addressing concerns raised by Mihaaru News about space constraints in Hulhumale' schools, the minister assured that the current year’s application submissions can be accommodated with the existing facilities.
He said that schools like Kaamil Didi Primary School, Salahuddin School, and schools in Hulhumale' Phase 1 will be able to manage the load.
Minister Shafeeu said that the demand for school placements in Hulhumale' will continue to rise next year, driven by population growth and the completion of housing projects.
Plans are underway to add 18–20 classrooms in Hulhumale' Phase 1, the minister added. However, it has not yet been decided whether these classrooms will expand an existing school or form part of a new one.
Two new schools are planned to address the growing population in Hulhumale'. One will be located in Hulhumale' Phase 1 and another in Phase 2.
These schools aim to meet the educational needs of families moving into newly constructed flats, including the POLCO, SIFCO, and Rainbow flats in Phase 1.
