50 percent of Komandoo harbour construction complete: MTCC

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), revealed that 50 percent of the harbour development project for Komandoo, Shaviyani Atoll was completed.

The Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on August 4, 2019, and allocated a one-year completion period.

MTCC commenced construction work for the project in December 2019.

Overall, the project consists of dredging and excavation work as well as the construction of a 12-meter long breakwater, 20-meter long of revetment, and a 190-meter key wall. A ramp, interlocking pavements, 10 mooring blocks, two navigational masts and 19 harbour lights will also be installed in Komandoo.

Per the contract, a total of MVR 29.4 million is allocated for Komandoo's harbor development. Funding for the project was included under the 2019 State Budget.
