Velaa Private Island distributed the highest service charge for the month of May, allotting USD 1,509.98 (MVR 23,283.89) per employee.
Velaa's service charge for May was higher than the amount of USD 1,434.98 (MVR 22,127.39) distributed in April.
Meanwhile, the amount distributed as service charge by some of the other resorts declined last month.
Cheval Blanc Randheli distributed USD 2,406 (MVR 37,104) as service charge in April but the amount dropped to USD 1,062 (MVR 16,375) in May.
Service charge also decreased for One and Only Reethi Rah, which had distributed USD 1,494 (MVR 23,037) in April but USD 926 (MVR 14,279) in May.
According to Maldives Serice Charge website, out of the 146 resorts operating in Maldives, only 52 distributed service charge.
On an average, resorts in Maldives charge 10 percent as service charge.
