Masodi rises to quarter-final after winning first three matches

Masodi Sports Club secured their place in the quarter-finals of the second division football tournament with a comprehensive win in their first three group matches.

In the third match of the tournament played at Galolhu Ground this evening, Masodi won against JJ Sports Club registering a 6-0 win.

The visitors took the lead in the second half of the match when Azzam Abdulla scored the second goal of the match. They extended their lead in the 51st minute through Ibrahim Waheed Hussain(Ibbe). Ten minutes later, Ibbe scored the team's third goal.

In the 76th minute, Ali Shamis (Thoppe) gave Masodi their fourth goal of the match before Jahonov Sardar scored the fifth goal in the next minute. Odilli Felix Chidi scored the last goal of the match in extra time.

Masodi, in Group A, has nine points from three matches so far. They defeated Mahibadhoo Sports Club and LT Sports Club 4-0 in their first two matches.

Kuda Henveiru United, who are part of this group, have won two of their matches so far, while Mahibadhoo has won one of their last two matches. While JJ have lost three of their matches, LT have lost both their matches.

Masodi now has their last group game in hand. To finish top of the group, it's important to win the match against Kuda Henveiru United.

Lagoons, Victory win second match as well!

In Group C, the reigning third-division champions, Lagoons, won their second game of the season and raised their quarter-final hopes.

The Lagoons defeated Bisburu Sports Club 5-0 on Sunday evening.

The Lagoons' first goal of the match came in the 16th minute when Sri Lanka midfielder Mohamed Shifan scored his first goal of the match. Four minutes later, Ali Rishfan Ahmed scored his second goal of the season before Russian forward Vladislav Komishin scored his third goal of the season in the 27th minute.

With just minutes left in the first half, the Lagoons' fourth goal was scored by Ivan. Ahmed Rifshan scored his fifth goal of the match in the 68th minute.

In addition to Lagoons, Victory Sports Club have also won two of their matches so far.

With the result, the Lagoons have won their last two Group C matches so far. Lorenzo Sports Club have won one of their last two matches, while Bisburu and Club PK have also lost two of their previous matches.

Tent Sports Club, who have won both their matches so far, are at the top of Group B.

BG Sports Club, who are part of the group, have won one of their two matches, while Teenage and the Grande are yet to get a point. New Radiant have three matches left in the group and have three points without playing a match.

There are 15 teams competing in the second division and the teams have been divided into three groups. Apart from the top two teams in each group, the best two third-placed teams will also qualify for the quarter-finals.

The two finalists will advance to next season's Maldivian Premier League.
