Masked men entered a house in Hithadhoo, Addu City, and assaulted a man, leaving him seriously injured.
Police confirmed receiving a report of the assault early Friday morning.
The victim has been identified as a Maldivian national.
Police said that he was treated at Addu Equatorial Hospital and later released.
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.
Videos circulating on social media show the victim lying near a wall inside his residence, covered in blood with serious injuries, including two head wounds.
The footage also shows him being transported to the hospital by ambulance.
