Housing Ministry in a press release said that the flat list and related documents are securely stored digitally in the ministry’s cloud hosting system, and assured that they were unaffected by the fire.
Minsitry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has confirmed that the flat list issued under the Binveriyaa and Gedhoruveriyaa Housing schemes was not impacted by the fire that broke out today in the Maafannu Green Building, which houses three key ministries.
The fire severely damaged the building, which accommodates the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development, the Construction and Infrastructure Ministry, the Environment Ministry, and an office of the Male' City Council. Some important documents, including those from the Vital Registration Office of the council responsible for birth registration and population records, could not be salvaged in the incident.
Following the fire incident, concerns arose regarding the status of the flat list.
However, the Housing Ministry in a press release said that the flat list and related documents are securely stored digitally in the ministry’s cloud hosting system, and assured that they were unaffected by the fire.
"We are consulting with the relevant authorities on safety and security measures," the statement added.
MNDF have now brought the fire under control.
