Police are conducting an investigation into a case where MVR 200,000 was withdrawn from an individual's bank account through claims of having been allocated a flat.

Police revealed that a case was filed with them on Wednesday afternoon concerning a case of MVR 200,000 being taken from an individual from Gaafu Dhaalu Villin'gili by persons fraudulently claiming to be representing HDC claiming to him that he had received a flat.

Police said that no arrests have been made so far in the case, but that investigations are ongoing.

Earlier in a press conference, Police have revealed that over MVR 27 million has been fraudulently taken by scammers since late last year till the end of January this year, and only about MVR 1 million of this amount has been recovered to date.
