The individual is reportedly an unnamed 39 year old man from Fuvahlumah. He is said to have attempted to smuggle the drugs via an airport. However, the details are not available at present.
When presented to court, he received a remand period of 15 days.
According to the remand order issued by the Criminal Court, the drugs were discovered upon his arrival in Maldives. He is reported to have put the drugs into a bag and tied it beneath the handle of both his luggages.
The remand order also detailed that the drugs weighed 109 grams. Customs administered a test to the drugs and the results came back positive for heroine.
Police told the court that his urine test also tested positive for drugs.
The individual also has a previous history of drug issues.
