Malé City Council has begun filling up the potholes on Boduthakurufaanu Magu with cement to level the road.

The council said it began filling the potholes formed in front of the bus stop located behind State Electric Company’s (STELCO) powerhouse as a temporary solution to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.

The council announced that it was seeking interested parties to fix the damaged parts of Malé City roads earlier in February 2023.

Several roads in the capital city are scattered with potholes, making it difficult for pedestrians and vehicles. This has also attracted public criticism.

During former President Abdulla Yameen's administration, asphalt was laid on Boduthakurufaanu Magu from the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal to the Malé Industrial Village. This was done to complement the Sinamalé Bridge and make it easier for vehicles to get to the bridge and highway.
