Renowned Indian music composer Anu Malik has given a standing ovation to Maldives' band '2ofUs' after their performance last night in the 'Battle of Bands International' reality show in India.
'Battle of Bands' is a music competition broadcast by Indian State TV Doordarshan. While the last three years of the show featured only Indian bands, this year's show welcomes foreign bands to perform as well. From Maldives, '2ofUs' has participated in the show.
Members of the '2ofUs' band are vocalists Ahmed Adhham, Mohamed Nasooh Bin Nasrudeen, Abdulla Shamrooh, Ahmed Jasheem and popular guitarist Ahmed Shaheed (Shaheed Legacy).
Last night, the band delivered their second performance in the show. They performed original Maldivian songs, including 'Mezzo' Mohamed Majid's 'Mulhi Odi' and 'Meynaa' Hassan's 'Mila Mila Han'dhuvaru'.
Anu Malik was the Guest Judge for last night's episode of the show.
At the end of '2ofUs' performance, Anu Malik declared 'Aag lagaa dhi' [set it on fire], which is a comment he reserves for the best performances in such shows. He said that he was amazed by their performance, stating if it were up to him, the band would emerge as winners of the show.
"This is one of the best performances I have seen in recent years," he said.
Anu Malik especially highlighted lead vocalist Adhham's talent.
Besides Maldives, bands from Mauritius, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Singapore, Russia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Spain and the UK are participating in the show.
