High Court has ordered a halt on the implementation of the Employment Tribunal's ruling to reinstate and pay compensation to former Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Service (IAS) Aishath Jennifer.
High Court has ordered a halt on the implementation of the Employment Tribunal's ruling to reinstate and pay compensation to former Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Service (IAS) Aishath Jennifer.
Jennifer was appointed to the position during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in December 2018. She was dismissed through a Board decision in January this year.
Jennifer appealed her dismissal at the Employment Tribunal, which ruled in her favour. They order her reinstatement and for compensation to be paid equivalent to the salaries of the months over which she had been dismissed.
As she was wrongfully terminated, the tribunal ordered for compensation of one month's salary and allowances amounting to MVR 56,000.
IAS appealed the tribunal ruling at the High Court. The High Court issued an order yesterday to halt implementation until the appeal case is concluded.
