The youth who was injured in yesterday's accident in Hulhumale' is in critical condition and is still in hospital, currently on ventilator support, as revealed by his mother on social media.
The injured male is a 19 year old from Kaafu atoll Huraa.
Police said yesterday that in the early hours of the morning, the motorcycle had been travelling at a very fast speed from west to east on Gul-Alaamaa Hin'gun in Hulhumale' when it crashed into a parked van belonging to the immigration department.
Following the accident, he was discovered lying injured on the ground around 02:30 hrs by police officers patrolling the area, and then transferred to Treetop Hospital for treatment.
According to the mother, the youth has suffered several broken bones in his legs, neck, arms and torso. He has also sustained injuries to his lungs.
"We are all waiting to see if he has the strength to survive. God willing, he will survive. We will all pray for that," the mother wrote about her eldest child.
Posting the update in response to the many calls and messages she was receiving regarding the accident, she asked for privacy at this time, explaining it is hard to respond at the moment.
