Motorcycle rams into parked van, rider injured

An individual has been injured after he lost control of the motorcycle he was speeding, ramming into a parked van.

The accident occurred near the Immigration Detention Centre in Hulhumale' at around 02:30 hrs in the early hours of this morning.

Police said that the motorcycle had been travelling at a very fast speed from west to east on Gul-Alaamaa Hin'gun in Hulhumale' when it crashed into a parked van belonging to the immigration department.

In the accident, the rider of the motorcycle sustained injuries, and the motorcycle has been damaged beyond use, police said.

The injured is a 19 year old Maldivian man. He is currently receiving treatment in Treetop Hospital.

Police are further investigating this accident.
