Case of three men attempting to smuggle drugs in Maldives forwarded to PG

The case of three men accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into the Maldives has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General's Office for prosecution.

According to the police, the case involves Molvi Mohamad Haaroon, a 49-year-old Pakistani national, Shahil Mohamad, a 40-year-old from Vilimale', and Ahmed Affaan, a 25-year-old from Haa Dhaalu atoll Kumundhoo.

The suspects were alleged to have smuggled drugs into the country on July 24, and the charges against them were officially filed on September 17.

Details regarding the quantity and origin of the drugs remain unclear.

Another Maldivian man was also arrested after drugs were found in his possession while traveling to the Maldives via Sri Lankan Airlines last Monday.
