In a post on X, President Muizzu highlighted that this is the first year in many when all on the queue for a particular year are able to receive slots within the same year.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that there are 850 persons on the queue for this year.
Ministry of Islamic Affairs has released a policy where first time Hajj pilgrims are given priority, with repeat pilgrimages allowed after five years. The ministry has also said that they are undertaking efforts to increase the Hajj quota so as to reduce waiting time for those who have been waiting long periods to go on Hajj.
