Police are reviewing the case of a man who is said to have suffered a stroke while in custody, assessing whether negligence was involved.
In a message to the press, police said that the man had been arrested in connection with an accident on Fithuroanu Magu in Hulhumale'. The incident occurred when a vehicle traveling from Hulhumale' Phase Two to Phase One collided with a bridge divider.
The man was taken into custody at 10:34 a.m. yesterday and released at 5:28 p.m. after a urine test returned negative results.
His family has alleged that he suffered a stroke while in custody and that inadequate treatment led to his condition worsening.
