The queue is the longest in the ENT department, with 2,190 people on the waitlist. The ENT department has five doctors and three nurses.
The shortest waitlist is in the gynecology department, with no one currently seeking treatment. The department has 18 doctors and seven nurses.
The hospital said that discussions are underway to reduce the waitlist and strengthen the appointment system.
At a press conference held last month, Dharumavantha Hospital CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said GP clinics would be set up in four wards of Male' City to reduce waitlists. This would allow patients to consult specialists through the GP clinic, he said.
The Mental Health Center at IGMH typically has a long waitlist. Currently, 465 people are waiting for treatment. The mental health center has 10 psychiatrists.
