Gaafu Dhaalu Fares-Maathodaa Council is organizing an eye camp in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Maldives Business Council.

The camp, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, will be joined by four Sri Lankan ophthalmologists and two technicians.

The initiative is supported by Fares-Maathodaa MP Ashraf Rasheed and aims to provide free eye consultations and distribute 300 eyeglasses.

According to Fares-Maathodaa Council President Ahmed Imthiyaz, the event is open to residents of neighboring islands as well.

The eyeglasses will be allocated as follows:

- 250 pairs for the residents of Fares-Maathodaa

- 50 pairs for people from other islands in the atoll.

"The cost of the camp estimated at nearly MVR 1 million, will be fully covered by the council," Imthiyaz said.

The camp was arranged following the council’s visit to Sri Lanka in August last year.
