Vice President arrives in Samoa for the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

During his visit, the Vice President will also engage in high level discussions on critical global issues such as climate action and climate finance and participate in the Commonwealth Business Forum.

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef arrived in Apia, Samoa, today to attend the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), accompanied by a high level government delegation.

Upon arrival at Faleolo International Airport, the Vice President was welcomed by Samoan Minister for Police and Prisons, Faualo Harry Jeffrey Schuster, and the Maldivian High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Iruthisham Adam.

During his visit, the Vice President will also engage in high level discussions on critical global issues such as climate action and climate finance and participate in the Commonwealth Business Forum.

President’s Office announced that bilateral meetings with world leaders are planned to further strengthen the Maldives' global participation and address global challenges.

“The Vice President is scheduled to deliver the Maldives' national statement at the Executive Sessions of CHOGM on Friday, October 25, and will also participate in discussions,” the President’s Office said.

The government reiterated its commitment to active international engagement and fostering strong bilateral relations with key global partners.

The 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is set for Friday and Saturday, with side events having begun yesterday.
