DPE will reportedly be publishing the thresholds every year from now on.
In a first for the Maldives, the Department of Public Examination has published the grading thresholds for the Dhivehi and Islam A'Level exams administered locally.
The threshold details were revealed alongside last year's A'Level exam results released yesterday. This proactive move included thresholds from 2017 onwards.
Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu told Mihaaru News that these thresholds were a carefully guarded secret in the past.
However, the minister said he believes these details should be made transparent, much like the Cambridge and Edexcel exams available in the country.
"Cambridge and Edexcel continue to publish thresholds for those subjects. So, I believe [the thresholds] for Dhivehi and Islam should also be published in a structured manner," Dr. Shafeeu said.
"With the grade thresholds, students and teachers would be aware of the upper and lower boundaries."
Dr. Shafeeu said this will be common practice in the years to come, and that this year's O'Level Dhivehi and Islam thresholds would be published along with the upcoming May/June exams results.
