Hithadhoo experienced highest rainfall in past 24 hours

The office said that the heavy rains and thunderstorms over the past 24 hours are the result of the combined effect of monsoon transition and a low-level circulation over the country.

Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has said that the highest amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in Hithadhoo, Addu City, with having experienced 110.6mm of rainfall.

Gan, in Addu City, recorded 106.5mm of rainfall, with Alif Alif atoll Thohdoo seeing 103.3mm of rainfall.

With some islands in Addu experiencing severe flooding, MNDF is active in draining the streets of flood water.

The office said that the heavy rains and thunderstorms over the past 24 hours are the result of the combined effect of monsoon transition and a low-level circulation over the country.

Adivising the public to exercise caution, the MET Office predicted heavy showers and thunderstorms across the country for the next three days as well.
