Four individuals have been arrested for forcing their way into a residence in Male' and threatening and assaulting the house owner.
Four individuals have been arrested for forcing their way into a residence in Male' and threatening and assaulting the house owner.
Police said today that they received reports last night of these four men entering the house and damaging property. The four entered the house at around 12.45am last night. All were arrested at the scene.
The four arrested in the case have been identified as:
1. Ali Nawaf, 21, Fazaa, Th. Guraidhoo
2. Mohamed Azaan, 23, Haveyli, N. Manadhoo
3. Ibrahim Ahunaf, 21, Elas, N. Velidhoo
4. Mohamed Aflah, 23, Reethi Hiyaa, AA. Maalhos
The court has placed all four in remand in custody for a period of fifteen days.
A video showing the assault on the house owner is now being circulated on social media.
The victim's mouth was taped over, and he was subjected to cigarette burns as one of the men held him. Another man is seen about to hit him with a large stapler.
It is so far unclear what led to the assault.
