RTL ferry service will soon be launched in Alifu Dhaalu atoll.
RTL currently operates services in Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Lhaviyani, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu, and Seenu atolls, utilizing a fleet of more than 25 vessels.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced the extension of RTL services to Alifu Dhaalu atoll during a meeting with the Atoll Council yesterday, as part of his tour of three islands in the atoll.
During the meeting, the council requested for improvements to the transport system and the expansion of tourism in the atoll. President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing RTL services as part of efforts to connect the entire country via the ferry network.
The council also raised other concerns, requesting the installation of solar panels in schools, the development of health services, and the ability to generate income through Alifu Dhaalu Lonuboa. Additionally, they urged the government to address the lack of adequate picnic islands in the atoll.
