Air Service World Congress begins in Maldives, featuring 150 participants from the aviation sector

The Congress is an opportunity for the aviation and tourism sectors to hold discussions to improve the quality of aviation. 150 companies from various sectors in the aviation industry, including 27 airlines and 17 airports, are participating in the congress.

Air Service World Congress has kicked off with the participation of airlines, airports, and aviation companies and experts from around the globe.

This is the first time the congress is being held in the Southeast Asia region and in the Maldives. The opening ceremony took place at Sheraton Maldives, and the congress will continue until Thursday at Kurumba Maldives Resort.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed stated that the congress is an opportunity for the aviation and tourism sectors to hold crucial discussions to improve the quality of aviation services.

He added that the conference would play a significant role in MACL's efforts to increase the number of airlines and flights to the Maldives.

Shareef highlighted the importance of the aviation sector and Velana International Airport in developing tourism in the Maldives. He said that the ongoing development works aims to make the airport a symbol of luxury tourism in the Maldives.

"We are working to develop the airport to become an economic hub in the Indian Ocean. We are developing this facility to provide modern services to passengers and airlines with the help of new technology," he said.

During the ceremony, Shareef emphasized that the airport would be developed in an environmentally friendly manner, using eco-friendly solutions to reduce its carbon footprint.

The congress, which began yesterday, will feature a panel discussion on sustainable air service development, along with discussions by airlines on various topics.

A total of 150 companies from various sectors in the aviation industry, including 27 airlines and 17 airports, are participating in the congress. The event is organized by Global Travel Investment.
