Housing Development Corporation (HDC) formulates the masterplan for Kudagiri Picnic Island, in Male' atoll, developed in accordance to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's pledge.
The corporation formulated its masterplan to ensure facilitating visitors to Kudagiri with the latest and best services.
HDC reports developing a hut, public toilet arrangements and recreational spots for picnic goers in the island.
State-owned enterprises including State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) have been contracted with the installation of utility services in the island prior to the grand unveiling.
Utility facilities that are currently being attended include water, sewerage and electricity out of which the latter component was recently completed by STELCO.
In addition to this, HDC confirms installing searchlights at the life-guard posts across the picnic venue.
The masterplan includes disaster management strategies devised with the assistance of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
The corporation's smart-infrastructure team will be deployed to Kudagiri site for the installation of network and coverage equipment to ensure uninterrupted connectivity and coverage for picnic goers.
HDC is apace with the entire development of the picnic venue for its scheduled unveiling on July 26.
Other facilities include a mosque which is currently in development.
The island of Kudagiri rests 10.5 kilometers from Male' City, which was selected as a picnic destination after the previous go-to picnic spot near the area was transformed into a tourist avenue.
MTCC was contracted to reclaim a land area of eight hectares from Kudagiri lagoon for MVR 41 million, which commenced keeping true to the campaign pledge by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
