Kyrgyzstan won the first match with three straight sets by scoring 15-25, 13-25 and 16-25.
This tournament features six teams: Maldives, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
Round robin matches will be played until Wednesday, with ranking matches scheduled for next Thursday. The final match will be played by the first and second teams, with the third and fourth to play in the match to select the second runner-up.
Maldives will play in their second match of the tournament today against Turkmenistan. Tomorrow, Maldives will face off against Afghanistan, with the fourth match slated to be on Tuesday against Uzbekistan. On Wednesday, Maldives will play against Tajikistan.
