Child pulled to safety from fifth floor window in Male' apartment

A video has surfaced showing a toddler being rescued from a fifth-floor apartment window in the Henveiru ward of Male'.

The video, approximately 50 seconds long, shows the child climbing onto the window ledge, with his legs dangling outside. The apartment had no balcony, and the window directly overlooked the street.

The child also climbed further up, sitting on the windowsill as onlookers below urging the toddler to go back inside.

The child was rescued when someone had pulled the child inside. It is unclear whether the person was a member of the household or someone who entered the apartment upon noticing the incident.

Maldives Police Service said that they are investigating the incident and taking appropriate actions.

Authorities have also urged the public not to share the video on social media, emphasizing the psychological harm and public scrutiny it could bring to the child and their family.

In their message, the police highlighted the potential distress caused by such content to viewers and the individuals involved.

They also requested anyone with information about the incident to reach out to the police.
