The power outage issue in the connected islands of Addu City has worsened, and a one-megawatt generator was taken there last night.

Fenaka Corporation stated that a brand new one-megawatt generator was transported to Addu last night, and installation work is currently underway.

An additional 1.8-megawatt generator has already been imported to the Maldives to be sent to Addu. According to Fenaka, efforts are underway to transport this generator to Addu as well.

Fenaka said that they are currently repairing a 1.8-megawatt generator and a 1.6-megawatt generator in Addu.

Fenaka had previously stated that they have been undertaking numerous efforts to resolve Addu's electricity problems since the beginning of this month.

Work done to resolve Addu's electricity issues:

- Major services for five power plant

- Overhaul work on three engines

- Preventive maintenance work on 18 engines

- Procurement of spare parts for eight engines

- The technical team from the Central Power Station has worked an average of 18 hours daily on these tasks.

During peak hours, the connected islands of Addu require 12 megawatts of electricity. To supply power, 20 generator sets have been installed in Hithadhoo with a capacity of 26.8 megawatts. However, some generators have broken down, and the power outage issue has worsened since last year.

Although it was said that the electricity problem would be resolved before Ramadan, power outages continued during the month, leading to protests in the area.
