Three people have been injured in an accident that occurred in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Nadella last night, where a speeding motorcycle collided with a pick up truck.
The accident occurred around midnight last night near the harbour in Nadella.
Police said that the accident had occurred when the speeding motorcycle had gone out of control and rammed into a pick up that had stopped at the area.
The injured in the accident are the two people who had been on the motorcycle, and one person who had been standing next to the pick up truck.
Police said that the three had been initially treated at the AbduSamad Memorial Hospital in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo.
Of the three, the driver of the motorcycle and the man next to the pick up are in need of further treatment, and hence have been transferred to ADK Hospital in Male'.
Police further said that the driver of the motorcycle did not possess a driving license. They are conducting further investigations into this accident.
The pickup had been parked near the harbour to load timber, Mihaaru News reports. The man near the pickup had been injured by being hit with the timber which had flown off upon impact from the speeding motorcycle.
