Former Election Commission Vice President Amjad Musthafa has been appointed as the Chief Judicial Administrator.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) announced today that Amjad met the necessary requirements and received the highest marks in the selection process, according to the report submitted by the interview panel.
The position became vacant following the resignation of Aishath Rizna last year. Rizna stepped down in September, citing an inability to work within the legal framework, policies, and procedures of the Department of Judicial Administration (DGA) due to challenges with the JSC.
Amjad has extensive experience in public service, having served five years at the Election Commission. He was also a board director at the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) before being appointed President of the Employment Tribunal in 2020. However, he resigned from the position after just four months.
