NSPA CEO and President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed speaking to Mihaaru News said that all documents requested by ACC have been shared.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has visited National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) offices as part of its investigation into alleged corruption in the leasing of office space associated with Maldives Media House, the parent company of MMTV.
NSPA CEO and President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed speaking to Mihaaru News said that all documents requested by ACC have been shared.
Three floors from Machangolhi Seeraazee, a property owned by former minister Ahmed Thasmeen Ali were rented to operate NSPA offices. While the floors are leased long-term by Maldives Media House it has been reported that one of these floors houses MMTV, while the other floors are subleased to various parties.
Last Friday, NSPA requested ACC to investigate potential corruption linked to the arrangement.
In a letter to ACC President Adam Shamil, NSPA requested for a thorough investigation and asked for the findings to be shared with the agency as soon as possible.
However, NSPA yesterday said that the agreement signed with MMTV parent company Maldives Media House to rent office space is to be cancelled, citing the spread of false allegations of corruption.
NSPA said in a statement that Maldives Media House has proposed cancellation of the agreement as the untrue allegations being circulated regarding the agreement has caused them irreparable damage.
