In the ongoing ThilaMale' Bridge project, work is going to commence on Thursday to fix pillars in the sea between Gulhi Falhu and Thilafushi. The government has banned travel in the area as the work proceeds.
An announcement by the Ministry of Transport yesterday said that the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure had informed them that this work will begin from Thursday onwards.
Due to this, the Gulhi Falhu-Thilafushi channel will be closed to boats from Thursday onwards.
Currently, the main pillars are being placed in the Male'-Vilimale' sector of the bridge. The government aims to complete the project in 2026.
