Internal Medicine Doctor Mohamed Ali at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male' warns that vaping leads to burst lungs and urges people against the practice.

Posting a photograph of a half-filled container with blood on Tuesday, Dr. Mohamed Ali said that it was blood drained from a person with a burst lung due to vaping.

Using the hashtag WorldNoTobaccoDay, he said in Dhivehi that vaping leads to burst lungs and that it was "not a cool thing."

World No Tobacco Day celebrated on May 31, is used as an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use.

It is yet unclear whether the photo posted by Dr. Mohamed Ali was regarding a case that happened to a Maldivian patient or not.

Mohamed Ali has issued such a warning as vaping have become popular amongst the youth of Maldives. Many people use vape as it less costlier than consuming tobacco through cigarettes. Some believe vapes are healthier option to cigarettes. Doctors claim that they too are harmful to your health.
