Fuvahmulah City has been awarded 'Best Shark Diving Destination' at Asia's largest diving expo, Diving Resort and Travel Show (DRT).
The award was conferred following an evaluation by a team appointed by the event organizers, considering key factors such as the abundance of marine species, safety measures for diving tourists, adherence to sustainable practices, and the unique diving experiences offered in the region.
Feedback from tourists, including comments and criticisms, also played a vital role in the decision-making process.
Fuvahmulah City Council highlighted that this recognition would significantly boost the island’s reputation as an international tourist destination while showcasing its rich underwater biodiversity.
The achievement is expected to further develop "island tourism" and position Fuvahmulah as a leading destination for diving with sharks.
Fuvahmulah is renowned for its distinctive environmental characteristics and the presence of diverse marine life, including rare species of sharks and fish.
The island attracts a significant number of tourists visiting every month to dive in Fuvahmulah.
