Vice President Faisal Naseem met with the board members of Maldives Association of Construction Industries (MACI) on Tuesday.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, they discussed the ongoing awareness programme on health and safety measures at construction sites.
Naseem commended MACI on taking the initiative to raise public awareness on the issue of construction-site safety and on the relevant measures taken by MACI. He assured the association of the government’s full support in their implementation.
Furthermore, the vice president appealed for others to follow MACI’s example and take the lead in addressing social issues without waiting for others to take action.
They also discussed the possibility of establishing a programme by MACI targeting at teaching school children about the construction industry and the possible career avenues that it could open for them.
The discussion also touched upon a prospective convention centre to be opened in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale’ in the future.
