Department of Judicial Administration last week appointed Farish Ahmed for the newly established position of Assistant Registrar at the High Court.

Farish, who is the younger sibling of Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed, obtained his Master's Degree in Law from City, University of London.

The current Registrar of the High Court is Mariyam Hurusheedha. She was appointed to the position in March 2018.

According to the Judicature Act of Maldives, the registrar of the High Court must meet the qualifications of a lower court judge as the registrar holds the authority to accept or reject cases submitted to the High Court.
