Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Sarat Dash on Tuesday presented his credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
At a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the newly appointed Chief of IOM guaranteed that Maldives will receive support in the form of technical assistance and funding opportunities from the organization.
Dast expressed IOM's commitment to making the engagement with Maldivian government stronger in the months to come.
Meanwhile, Minister Shahid spoke of the government's support for effective migration management, combatting human trafficking and ensuring human rights of migrant workers.
IOM is an organization that provides support to understand gaps and strengthen border control and migration management.
In August 2011, Maldives became and a member state of IOM and in April 2013, the country office was established.
