Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Monday, discussed bilateral relations with newly appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Dr Saeed Mohamed Ali Al Shamsi.
During the meeting held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid welcomed Ambassador Al Shamsi and congratulated him on his appointment as the first resident Ambassador from UAE to Maldives.
Minister also expressed hope that the establishment of the resident UAE Embassy in Maldives will become an added milestone between cooperation of the two nations.
Both the diplomats further conversed on possibilities to enhance the strong bilateral ties through collaboration in technical and economic development projects and in the areas of mutual concern.
Ambassador Al Shamsi assured the Minister of his commitment to work with the government of Maldives.
Minster Shahid was accompanied by State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed and Director at Foreign Affairs Abdul Waris Saeed.
