Contractors sought to establish sewerage systems in 11 islands

Ministry of Finance on Monday issued a tender seeking contractors to establish water and sewerage systems in 11 islands.

According to the tender, the systems are to be established in the islands of:

- Filladhoo, Haa Alif Atoll

- Finey, Haa Dhaalu Atoll

- Naivaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll

- Narudhoo, Shaviyani Atoll

- Maaungoodhoo, Shaviyani Atoll

- Lhohi, Noonu Atoll

- Holhudhoo, Noonu Atoll

- Inguraidhoo, Raa Atoll

- Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll

- Maavah, Laamu Atoll

- Gulhi, Kaafu Atoll

The finance ministry will open bidding for the projects on April 18.

The ministry also issued a tender last month for the development of roads in eight islands, and water and sewerage systems in 11 islands.

The state budget for 2019 allocates MVR 6.6 billion for the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP), which includes 315 new and 229 ongoing projects.

While the budget allocates MVR 1.3 billion for 120 water and sewerage projects, MVR 5.59 billion is allocated for 51 land reclamation and road development projects.
