JW Marriot revealed that they will open their new resort based on the island of Vagaru in Shaviyani Atoll in July 2019. It will be the first property run by renowned hotel chain Marriot International's flagship brand.
Within 55-minute distance from Velana International Airport on a seaplane, the luxury resort boasts 68 beach and over-water villas, each fitted with a private pool.
In addition to the deluxe villas, JW Marriot provides various options for dining and recreation, including a rooftop restaurant. The hotel offers a total of 6 F&B outlets which are Shio, a fine dining grill room, Aailaa, an all-day dining restaurant, Hashi, serving Japanese Teppanyaki, Fiamma, specializing in Italian and wood-fired pizzas, as well as Horizon and Kaashi & Rum Baan, both full-service bars.
Moreover, the resort provides a horizon pool in addition to their kid’s club and Lounge 18, a cigar and shisha club with billiard and board games.
Following the Maldives' launch of JW Mariott, a further 30 luxury hotels hailing from the Mariott International brand family are scheduled to open in different locations across the world within the year.
