Rehendhi Award, given in recognition of the outstanding services to national development and society was awarded to eight individuals and an organization on Thursday.
The awards were given in a ceremony held in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Recipients of the award include the first female mayor of Maldives, and an aircraft engineer.
Additionally, four women notable for their social work also received the award, as well as Society for Health Education (SHE).
President Solih presented the awards to the recipients. Meanwhile, First Lady Fazna Ahmed presented the special Rehendhi Award brooch.
The recipients of Rehendhi Award are:
- Aminath Mohamed, Male’, Dhaftharu no. 3204 (for notable services in her field)
- Mariyam Shifzan, M. Hiyalee Gulshan (non-traditional sector)
- Aishath Nazima, H. Koyaa (social sector)
- Mu’umina Adam, G. Half Sea (social sector)
- Aishath Looba, Hulhumale’ Flat 02-03-122 (social sector)
- Society for Health Education (employment sector)
- Aminath Azka Adil, Raven, Fuvahmulah, Gnaviyani Atoll (non-traditional sector)
- Ameena Ali Kilegefaanu, Athireege, Gahdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll (economic sector)
- Aishath Shiruhaana, H. Bonthi (social sector)
- Aminath Mohamed (first female mayor of Maldives)
