An Indian expatriate was assaulted with a sharp object and severely injured in Hithadhoo, Addu City, in the early hours of Monday.
According to Maldives Police Service, the assault took place at 0400 hours on Monday. The victim is an Indian expatriate who has been residing in Hithadhoo for a long period of time.
Police stated that he was attacked while cycling on Hithadhoo's Bodumagu, but did not disclose further details.
Hithadhoo Regional Hospital stated that the victim is currently receiving treatment in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for injuries sustained to the head and face.
Police investigation into the matter is underway.
