Govt appoints new Deputy Minister of Defence

The government appointed Hassan Zameel as the Deputy Minister of Defence on Wednesday.

The government appointed Hassan Zameel as the Deputy Minister of Defence on Wednesday.

The newly appointed minister previously served as the Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Zameel holds a Master’s Degree in Law.

Zameel is the first to be the appointed as a Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Defence by the current administration.

The President’s Office previously stated that the current government will appoint 39 state ministers and 50 deputy ministers, although more than 100 positions have been filled.

Deputy Ministers are paid a total of MVR 35,500, out of which MVR 20,500 is basic salary while the remaining MVR 15,000 is given as allowance.
